Abstract: The article is focused on a comparatively new format of social dialogue - selfie. Selfie culture has become an integral part in the life of modern people. The article discusses sociolinguistic, communicative, and semiotic characteristics of such texts. It is proved that a photo and its short description are speech acts of situational multimodal self-presentation. The study shows that evaluative components play an important role in the cognitive structure of selfie.
